Happy Summer everyone!
I cannot believe it's almost summer time! We are super excited.
Here's what I have planned; As most of you know that we don't have a normal schedule in the summer time, but we still strive on routine. This should go for home life too. I know things get hectic in the summer time but children like to know what is happening and routine. Please make sure if you are off your routine to talk to your child about your expectations of them.
For our weekly themes we will be putting it on hold for the summer and going back to our weekly themes in the fall. I would like to just focus on play and our daily activities, I.E water days/park days/bike days/ and so on.... I will still focus on kindergarten readiness but with more flexibility. I just want us to have a fun flexible summer and not have to worry about making sure I get to our weekly theme each day while still hitting our developmental milestones.
For the fist week of our summer program we will come up with a summer bucket list. The children can help me come up with activities/ideas they're interested in.. So please keep your eyes pealed for another email on our weekly activities.
If you could please keep the following at daycare for activities (If possible)
-Extra clothes or swimsuit for water days.
-Towel
-Water shoes... Please note in the summer I still want friends to wear tennis shoes and socks but with water play they should wear something on their feet due to safety (They can wear anything water resistant.).
Fridays will be Bike days. Please bring a helmet as well. I always try to teach my children safety when riding on a bike/trike or scooter. Bikes must go home every Friday night. I do not have that much storage space. You are more then welcome to bring a scooter/bike or whatever else your child likes to ride around on.
And TBD on Park days...
Anoka county summer library experience (The reading program): We will participate in the reading program again this year. It starts June 1st-Auguest 18th. I encourage you to do the same as well. Every day we read books and you should be doing the same at home. 15 to 20 minutes a day.. I know the summer time is very busy but it's always a great nightly routine before bed. Limiting your children to 1 to 2 books a night before bed. It's great for routine and great for their growing brains. I'll have some information for you on the reading program but I encourage you to go out to look at what kind of events and stuff they have at the library this summer. Oh and did I mention this is FREE!! :-)

Father's day: Unfortunately this year my family will be on vacation when it's father's day weekend. I have deiced not to have a party but we will still have a gift for them. :-)
Bowling: I'm not sure if I'll do bowling again this year.. I may try with a small group but with a large one it's just hard with the younger ones. But I do encourage you to sign your child(ren) up. It's free, the only thing you have to pay for is shoe rental. It's so much fun and the kids love it.
